Insights from the ADC Symposium 2026
The ADC Symposium 2026, held in Prague on 16–17 September and organised by TKS event organiser, publisher of Chemistry Today, brought together experts from across the antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) field.
During the on-site event, the Chemistry Today team interviewed selected speakers and industry experts to explore some of the key challenges, developments and opportunities shaping ADC development and manufacturing.
Ashley Harp
Ashley Harp explores the specific challenges of designing manufacturing facilities for antibody-drug conjugates, where biologics production must be integrated with the safe handling of highly potent compounds. She highlights the importance of collaboration across environmental health and safety, quality, analytical, production and management teams to address the intersection of GMP requirements and potent compound containment.
The conversation also examines how facility design can balance current manufacturing needs with future capabilities. Ashley discusses the value of involving R&D, process development and manufacturing teams early in the planning process, as well as anticipating requirements for hazardous materials, solvents and purification buffers. Addressing these considerations during initial construction can improve long-term flexibility and help avoid costly retrofits or the need for new facilities.
